I don’t know what the heck I did but yesterday, while I was making dinner, I noticed that the back of my shoulder REALLY hurt. It seems like to me (the non-doctor) that my muscle might possibly be in spasm. I tried running a hot bath and soaking my shoulder for about 20 min by laying on the bottom of the tub with my legs bent and my feet against the backsplash behind the nozzle (sorry..I can’t think of the word. Where the water comes out. Faucet? Yes. That’s probably it. Because I can’t brain today. Faucet.) is. And that helped a little.
I took ibuprofen last night and Aleve this morning because it’s the strongest thing we have but it still hurts like a mo’fo. And calling into work wasn’t an option…HeyBaby and AsstMgr are both out. HeyBaby’s SIL (who manages the District Alternative Ed program) is out so AsstMgr is taking her place. I don’t know why HeyBaby is out. And I got a text from my boss this morning (I was getting caught up on “The Resident” and “New Amsterdam” and holy fartcrappers, Batman. Gambling a patient in a game of poker is SO frigging unethical I can’t even….) saying that FryChick is also out because her daughter had to stay home from school sick.
I know that with muscle spasms like this, you’re not supposed to lift anything or whatever but it’s not a choice. NOT lifting 50+ lbs crates of fruit plus full size sheet pans full of food isn’t an option. NOT scooping 84,000 portions of mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and corn today isn’t an option. NOT doing dishes and taking out the trash, which I’ll probably have to try and heave onto the top of the dumpsters because they’re always full isn’t an option. My shoulder hurts SO much but there’s not anything I can do about it. With three people out, that’s a THIRD of our staff and we probably won’t have a sub because we’re chronically understaffed.
And I have to wash/destem 5 crates of frigging fresh-ish (because they came in almost a week ago) grapes for Wednesday. Yay.
